iPhone goes for €99 in Germany

For only €99, anyone in Germany can now own an 8G iPhone, a saving of up to €300. But there’s a catch - you must sign up for the top end Complete XL Plan that costs €89 per month.

T-Mobile offers the €99 iPhone on the German launch of the much-awaited mobile phone produced by Apple. Yes, only €99 but you have to commit to spending an extra €960 on the monthly plan.

A T-Mobile spokesperson  referred to the offer as a “sales promotion” rather than a subsidy, and declined to comment on any new model that might be in the pipeline.

The iPhone with 16G of memory remains at €499 from T-Mobile.

  • Bank of America Corp., in its forecast, said Apple will probably produce at least 11 million 3G-enabled iPhones starting May through September this year.

In a report to investors, Bank of America’s Scott D. Craig said: “Our iPhone estimates are starting to look too conservative at 8 million units” in 2008.

Apple has already announced the production of second generation iPhone, the iPhone 2.0, which caused a lot of predictions as to its features, which the iPhone manufacturer has not disclosed until now.

Earlier, Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney believes that Apple has placed a 10 million unit-strong order for another round of iPhone release and these units are most likely to be 3G-capable. Read the rest of this entry »

Developers who want to share their applications to the iPhone will have to apply for membership and download the SDK at Apple’s website.

When the first beta version of the SDK was launched on March 6, more than 100,000 iPhone developers have downloaded it in the first four days. Leading developers such as AOL, Electronic Arts, Epocrates, salesforce.com and Sega have already demonstrated amazing applications using the SDK, and developer response continues to be phenomenal with more developers embracing the platform. Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney believes that Apple has placed a 10 million unit-strong order for another round of iPhone release and these units are most likely to be 3G-capable.

Dulaney’s analysis of a 3G iPhone is very real because Apple will surely not release a new batch of iPhone, 10 million units at that, without the 3G technology that was lacking in the first wave.

Dulaney also indicatest that the new round of iPhone units will have a new display technology that will utilize the Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED), making a slimmer 3G iPhone. With the OLED display, battery performance of the iPhone will be increased because it does not have to power a backlight.
