If only the iPhone could sing, surely it would do ‘Release Me’ by Engelbert Humperdinck. Yes, with all this unlocking activities going on and with millions of iPhones being unlocked, Apple should now set the iPhone free instead of jailing it at the four walls of AT&T.
More and more people will be going to the undergrounds to have their iPhones unlocked (I don’t know if AT&T’s service is one of the reasons) and it would be unfair for AT&T, the supposed exclusive carrier of the iPhone, because they now no longer has the monopoly of the iPhone.
Apple, should therefore, do the right move by unlocking the iPhone and allowing other mobile networks to carry the iPhone.

Several business analysts at Wall Street claimed the underground activity of “unlocking” the iPhone to work with other networks will create a massive impact on Apple’s business in the future.
When Apple announced it has sold 3.7 million iPhone units last year, several observers immediately noticed the discrepancy when AT&T, Apple’s exclusive carrier partner in the US, said it was able to register 2 million iPhone users in 2007.
Where then are the 1.7 million iPhones? Analysts believed that number of iPhones were unlocked last year to work with other networks. While the mere fact that millions of iPhones were sold last year means money for Apple, what will it mean to AT&T?
