Apple has posted a new version of the iPhone SDK, the iPhone SDK beta 3.0, which comes with a new tutorial and extends the beta 2.0 firmware. It also has various bug fixes and “support for the latest iPhone OS.
The third beta version of the iPhone SDK includes Interface Builder, Xcode IDE, Instruments, iPhone simulator, frameworks and samples, compilers, and Shark analysis tool.

Apple on Thursday released the second beta version of the software development kit (SDK) for building applications for the iPhone and the iPod Touch that includes an interface builder, the Xcode integrated development environment, the iPhone simulator, frameworks and samples, compilers, and the Shark analysis tool.
Developers who want to share their applications to the iPhone will have to apply for membership and download the SDK at Apple’s website.
When the first beta version of the SDK was launched on March 6, more than 100,000 iPhone developers have downloaded it in the first four days. Leading developers such as AOL, Electronic Arts, Epocrates, salesforce.com and Sega have already demonstrated amazing applications using the SDK, and developer response continues to be phenomenal with more developers embracing the platform. Voice recognition unit TellMe has jumped into the SDK bandwagon and is now exploring opportunities for the iPhone, said general manager Mike McCue in an interview with Fortune.
TellMe, which was purchased by Microsoft a year ago, sees a huge potential in the iPhone, says McCue, adding that if the iPHone SDK will allow software to take advantage of voice recording and location-based information, which TellMe is currently developing for Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system, then the voice recognition unit is ready to get a version for the iPhone.
Tellme, the Mountain View, Calif.-based provider of voice services for everyday life, including nationwide directory assistance, enterprise customer service and voice-enabled mobile search, has officially joined the Microsoft family On May 3rd, 2007. (more…)

Apple® today announced that more than 100,000 iPhone™ developers have downloaded the beta iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK) in the first four days since its launch on March 6. The iPhone SDK provides developers with the same rich set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and tools that Apple uses to create its native applications for iPhone and iPod® touch.
“Developer reaction to the iPhone SDK has been incredible with more than 100,000 downloads in the first four days,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “Also, over one million people have watched the launch video on Apple.com, further demonstrating the incredible interest developers have in creating applications for the iPhone.”
Apple also previewed the new App Store, a breakthrough way for developers to wirelessly deliver their applications to every iPhone and iPod touch user. Developers set the price for their applications—including free—and retain 70 percent of all sales revenues. (more…)
