Apple’s exclusive iPhone carrier in the US, AT&T has remained silent on reports that it will be selling the 3G iPhone for $199 as long as the subscriber signs up for a specific plan.

iPhone-Codes.com reported about it earlier (read here) quoting industry insiders but as of this time, AT&T has not issued any statement regarding the much-publicized $199 3G iPhone.

  • More iPhone price cut around Europe seen

Due to the alleged disappointing sales, several mobile phone carriers in Europe are now contemplating on following the footstep of O2 by offering Apple’s iPhone at lower cost to clear out their display closets.

Orange, the exclusive carrier of iPhone in France, was reported to be in talks with Apple for an iPhone price cut following a frustratingly low sales despite the hype created by the iPhone online.

With the coming of the 3G iPhone in the next few months, the mobile phone market is observed to be holding on to its money for the iPhone 2.0 instead of buying the currently available units that do not have 3G and other features yet.

If your office uses Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or 2007, iPhone 2.0 software will allow you to wirelessly push company email, calendar events, and contacts to iPhone over a 128-bit encrypted SSL connection.

With secure push email and over-the-air contacts and calendar features, users can stay up to date wherever they go. And thanks to the iPhone Multi-Touch display, they’ll find it easier to perform common tasks such as accepting meeting invitations and finding contacts in the company directory or Global Address List (GAL).

IT administrators can securely manage any iPhone that contains confidential company information using remote wipe and enforced security and password policies.          (more…)

  • Bank of America Corp., in its forecast, said Apple will probably produce at least 11 million 3G-enabled iPhones starting May through September this year.

In a report to investors, Bank of America’s Scott D. Craig said: “Our iPhone estimates are starting to look too conservative at 8 million units” in 2008.

Apple has already announced the production of second generation iPhone, the iPhone 2.0, which caused a lot of predictions as to its features, which the iPhone manufacturer has not disclosed until now.

Earlier, Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney believes that Apple has placed a 10 million unit-strong order for another round of iPhone release and these units are most likely to be 3G-capable. (more…)

Digg founder Kevin Rose, the same guy who previously predicted that the iPhone would launch with two battery compartments and slide-out keyboard, said the 3G iPhone will have a 2-way Video Chat soon.

Rose said the 3G iPhone will use a dual-camera setup for the video conferencing and will utilize the iChat application of the iPhone 2.0 that will be launched in the next few months.

To meet the demands of the iPhone 2.0, AT&T, the exclusive network partner of the iPhone, has announced that they’ve got some massive 3G upgrades planned for 2008.
